Buying double pram pushchairsandprams to Double Stroller
There aren't many things more exciting than the news that you're expecting your second child. The preparation for your family's new baby can be difficult.
The choice of the best double stroller is among the most important things to consider. This article will go over the options available and provide some tips on how you can select the best pram for you and your growing family.
Convertible double prams
A convertible single-to-double stroller is a great choice for those who want a stroller to grow with your family. These clever frames, like the Cybex Aton 4 Twin expand widthways to accommodate a second seat. They also offer the option of adding a shopping basket, or two carrycots/carseats (with upper and lower adapters). This allows you to start your family out with just a single buggy and then upgrade once you have twins. They usually have more configurations and seating options for children and adults than other models of double prams and will have better weight distribution so they're generally easier to maneuver. Pros: Compact, simple to use and versatile. Cons: It takes up less space and storage space for both children as when compared to other designs.
Tandem (in-line) double prams
As the name implies, tandem prams come with two bassinets or seats for prams that are positioned one over the other. Tandem prams are generally narrower than side by side double prams, and are more maneuverable through doors and on public transport. However they don't offer the same amount of storage space and can be more difficult to access when both seats are in use if your toddler is sitting in the front seat.
Some parents who are new to parenting opt for a tandem stroller to ensure the future of their investment, particularly when they're planning to have more children who are close to the age of. Our DUO2 pram is a well-known model. It's designed as a single buggy however, it can be transformed into a twin stroller by adding a second seat. It also converts back to one pram once your elder child outgrows it.
Tandem prams are available in a variety of configurations. For instance an infant can be placed in a bassinet that is located at the top of the pram while an older child sits on the seat below. Most tandem prams are able to be converted into travel systems by adding car capsules to the top seat.

A side-by-side double stroller lets the children to ride together and converse while they ride. This will stop the two from fighting or getting up.
A side-byside is also the ideal choice for grandparents who want to join in the fun - they can both push the kids around and assist with shopping, running errands or attending events. They're usually cheaper than a tandem stroller, which makes them an excellent way to introduce grandkids to babysitting duties.
Single prams
A single pram is only able to allow one seat or bassinet/carry cot - it is typically suitable from newborn through to approx. 4 years old. Many single prams also allow for a toddler board to be attached to the back of the stroller, so that another child can stand or sit (depending on the kind of toddler board) while you push the stroller along.
Some first-time parents choose to ensure their pram is future-proofed by purchasing a double-pram option, such as our DUO2. You can use it in single mode until you have your second child and then convert it into a tandem double pram once the second baby arrives. This will save you the cost and hassle of having to purchase a separate double pram.
In-line or tandem double prams might be a bit wider than side-by-side double prams but they are still easier to manoeuvre on busy footpaths and inside shops. However, they can be more difficult to use during running and will require more effort to push when you're climbing or descending hills.
Side by side prams are more spacious than tandem or in-line double prams. They are a good option for families with 2 children close in age. The children can see and interact with each other from their seats. However, they are less maneuverable and could not pass through standard doorways as easily as tandem strollers.
Non-convertible side-by-side prams cannot be used in single mode. You will need to purchase a different pram or a stroller to accommodate your children's younger ones. They are cheaper and last longer than convertible double strollers since they were not intended to be used in single and double mode. The main drawback is that your older child will soon outgrow the side-byside seats and will need to be transferred to a toddler's seat which can be expensive.
